7/24/2006 A Top Ten at Trail Way and a Tough Night at Lincoln
Friday
at Trail Way Speedway.
Trail Way Speedway had 22
cars for 22 spots Friday Night with the strong threat of rain. Two Heats
were run with all cars to make the field. The first heat had at least four
cautions loosing about half the cars when it was called. Only one official
lap had been completed. This made it tough four us. We were not set up
well for how wet the track was and faded from 4th to 8th.
That gave us a 16th
place start in the feature. Jessie drove to a 9th place finish,
another top ten.
Ron
Kramer
won the day after his 50th birthday for the first time at Trail
Way Speedway. Congratulations.
Saturday at Lincoln.
We had trouble at Lincoln
Speedway Saturday Night with the car stalling. By the time we found the
trouble (the Mag had failed) and fixed it, we had missed our heat and
started 12 of 13 in the first of two Consi's. There was a large 42 car
field looking to make each of the 24 feature starting spots.
Jessie did a great job on
the start passing three cars on the outside by the flag stand and maybe two
more by the entry to turn one. She was hooked up and determined.
Then three cars from up
front started to cart wheel end over end from the inside groove toward the
outside wall. She was lucky enough to miss the first one but was collected
by the second one. It climbed right up the car and over. All of the
drivers involved were ok although pretty sore.
We lost the front wing,
every aluminum bar and steering arm and crunched the top wing some. The
radiator was moved back about 3 inches and the box filter was crushed some.
Folks came from everywhere
to help get us get back out before the next green flag. Jessie says
"thanks". We not only have some of the best Sprint Car Drivers in the world
here in PA we have some of the nicest folks around.
From inside the car Jessie
said it was neat to see one of the other drivers come over and pretty much
take over for some of our newer guys.
She just missed the green
but would have been a mess anyway with the top wing damage.
We have some more practice
and organization to do to speed up the quick change process. We were
probably more ready for an axle change between a heat and a Consi than
during a delayed race.
Congratulations to
Chad Trout
who won his second feature at Lincoln Speedway this year.
We had
it pretty much back together by Sunday night. Frank Fleming came by and
disappeared with busted up fiberglass and before dinner he was back repaired
and painted, thanks.
Thanks
Randy in ways to many to list.
Jessie
was hard at work all weekend as well.
